For as the soil makes the sprout come up
and a garden causes seeds to grow

so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise
  spring up before all nations.
Isaiah 61:11

When the sentence for crime is not carried out swiftly, the hearts of men incline toward doing evil. Ecclesiastes 8:11

The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool inclines to the left. Ecclesiastes 10:2

It is possible to give away and become richer. It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything. Yes, the liberal man shall become rich. By watering others he waters himself.
Proverbs 11:24-25

The story sounds true until someone tells the other side. Proverbs 18:17

Heard, sometimes seen

I have been hearing and sometimes seeing sea lions at our south Puget Sound cabin. I don't recall hearing them before a couple years ago - that's 15 years several times a year. But now, outside summer, I hear them often. They are very seldom close. They prefer the center of Case inlet - close to a mile away. With binoculars I can see them and it's always party time! They are diving and bobbing all hours of the day.

I have seen one close up a few times. Just one on the outgoing tide - 4 seconds up, 15 seconds under water.

Harbor seals are common in our area. But they are quiet. They are curious; they come and look at you. But seldom by the shore. We see them when we are boating.

The atlas is a free download.

On map 10D at McMicken Island, site 322, on Case Inlet in 1991, while in our 14-foot boat we saw at least a dozen harbor seals hauled out. When they saw us some went in the water. Then we were surrounded by pairs of eyes. What an experience for our 3 kids when they were young!

Hawaii

We love Hawaii. We just spent 12 days on Maui and 2 on Oahu. If there is a more beautiful place in the world than Maui... I doubt there is! My sister Lorna joined us for her first visit to Hawaii. Photo, Lorna in the center, on the wild Kanai'o coast of Maui.
